Garmin Edge 605 and 705 – new 3.20 firmware available

This firmware has now been withdrawn from Garmin’s site. There were a raft of problems with it, some serious, such as deleting the entire history if the battery was left to run down. It happened to me, too.

Not sure if this is relevant to the recent upgrade (which I hope does improve the altitude etc calculations), but….. yesterday (16th July) I was doing the 5th day of a 5 day cycle ride across Wales, when my Garmin Edge 705 decided to reset, clearin gthe History and so losing all my data on the previous 5 days’ cycling. I wasn’t pleased. Yesterday was also my Birthday and so exactly 1 year to the day since I first turned on my Garmin (which was a Birthday present last year). Have you ever heard anything like this happening – Istruggle to think it is anything other than a coincidence, but the 705 does do strange things at times!!

      Hi Rod,

Just yesterday I returned from the French Alps and the same thing happened to me! All my rides over famous cols such as Colombiere, Joux Plane etc are gone! I reset my device by holding down the lap button after each ride but now they’re all gone, it’s incredibly disappointing – I don’t get to ride in the Alps every day (my first visit).

Send an email to Garmin support, as I plan to do, to. But nothing is getting that data back it seems :(

Aaagh! That’s even worse than my situation – I feel your pain. I have indeed e-mailed Garmin support – not much they can do I guess but hopefully they can (continue to?) improve their software, firmware, hardware or wherever the fault lies so that these things don’t happen. If I get anything useful back from them I’ll let you know. Rod.
